Airbus Officially Surpasses Boeing in Narrow-Body Market

The fierce competition in the narrow-body passenger aircraft market reached a historic turning point as of September 2025.

Airbus has delivered more than 12,250 aircraft from its A320 family, officially surpassing Boeing’s 737 series in total deliveries for the first time.

The European manufacturer launched the A320 program in the 1980s and has since produced one of the most successful aircraft families in aviation history. Considering Airbus’s current production pace and global demand, this gap is expected to widen further in the coming years.

In previous months, data from Cirium indicated that Airbus was on the verge of overtaking Boeing in total 737 deliveries as of August 2025. With the release of September data, that milestone has now been reached.
